Polygon, a popular Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution, has emerged as the second-largest blockchain gaming network in terms of unique active wallets (UAWs).
According to a report by decentralized application (DApp) analytics platform DappRadar, the network saw 138,081 UAWs engaging with games on the platform in March, a 53% increase from February. This surge in user activity puts Polygon ahead of third and fourth-ranked Hive and BNB Chain, which had 84,000 and 80,000 UAWs, respectively.
Polygon’s growth in the gaming industry can be attributed to Hunters On-Chain RPG by BoomLand, which has seen a UAW increase of over 17,000% in the past 30 days alone. This free-to-play role-playing game with nonfungible token (NFT) integrations has a similar look and style to Minecraft and reached an all-time high UAW count of around 55,300 on March 9.
Polygon’s move into the gaming industry is seen as a positive sign for the platform, which was previously known for its DeFi DApps.
The platform has been gaining recognition for its capabilities in the gaming space, which is evident from its successful partnerships with big names such as Warner Music, Starbucks, Adidas, Reddit, and Adobe.
With the increasing bullish momentum developing around Polygon, particularly relating to NFTs, gaming, and the metaverse, the network is well-positioned to become a dominant player in the blockchain gaming industry. Polygon’s growth in the gaming industry will likely continue as more developers and gamers recognize its capabilities and potential.
